Some Humour

Came across this on the blogosphere

Twins having a swim lesson

The kids have been in swimming lessons for a few weeks now. They are getting better but it is tough to keep Cohen in the pool as it is too cold for him. Today I found out Kyah hates life jackets. The instructor was putting them on as they were heading for the deep end; before I know it Kyah is freaking out saying it is too tight. It wasn't too tight, she just likes to be naked. Picture are a little grainy but still enjoyable...

Free Parking at BC Parks

BC Premier, Christy Clark, has done what she promised and has made parking in BC parks free again. The Vancouver Sun article said it only generated $1 million in revenue;  I am sure that after fixing all the vandalized meters the net income was a lot lower. Vancouver Sun article here.

Congrats Pops!

Seems in my family you get fitter with age. My Dad ran in the Times Colonist 10K today in Victoria and he came 43rd out of around 450 people in his age group; which is 60-65. This year he ran it in 53 minutes and change which is far better then his time last year which was 67 minutes and change. Congrats Dad!

Congrats also to my Uncle Darrel, who is my Dad's little brother, he came in 8th in the same age group as my Dad with a time of 47 minutes and change. I guess I can sit on my ass for another 30 years before giving it a shot!

Gold Panning with The Twins

It seems Spring has finally sprug and we took the opportunity today to make the most of it. Chelsey has dragon boat practice this morning so I took Cohen and Kyah to try our hand at gold panning out in Yale. I have never tried it before so I asked some guy if we were in the right area; he was super nice and even showed the kids some of the gold he found. It was a super nice area where we were and the kids had a great time running around. We did some panning but I think my technique is off a bit. In the sun you can see the gold flakes sparkling in the pan so I know they are in there. I think we may need the help of a certain Uncle Nick to give us some tips! I took a bunch of the material home to work on my panning technique so I will update if we find anything.

After gold panning I was happy to see the kids spend a good 3 hours outside playing in the front yard. Spring has finally sprung. Enjoy the pictures!

Back in the Saddle

Due to the very slow speed of our computer I was boycotting the blog. My Mum was here last week and our computer was so slow she couldn't even Farmville on Facebook! Well, thanks in part to the proceeds of our lovely babysitting moonlight job we have a new computer. Look forward to a more active blog this summer!

The Phamlee Has Gone Mobile

I switched up the settings of The Phamlee blog so the format is now different for "mobile" users. Check us out on your iPhone, Android or other waste of money you have and let me know what you think.

North Shore Fix

I have not been able to ride on the North Shore since early last season but have come across a few good videos of others lately. The quality and man hours that go into these trails always amazes me. You probably have to be a mountain biker to enjoy these videos...or somebody that appreciates good craftsmanship. Our computer has been pissing me off lately which is the reason for the lack or "twin" related material; it is very slow to upload etc. I am working fixing it so hopefully more Cohen and Kyah soon!

Geocaching: Chilliwack River Valley

Yesterday I took the twins and one of their friends Geocaching around the Chilliwack River Valley; there is an ass load of caches in that area and we found three of them. Not all of the caches had treasure in them as one was a microcache which was the first one of those we found and another was a cement mushroom that somebody had written "this is a geocache" on; needless to say we were a little disapointed with the first two but it was still cool to find them. The third one had some "treasure" in it and once we used the GPS to get to the general area it was Cohen that actually found it. It was cool to see they are catching on and I was impressed he actually found it. Anyways, enjoy the pictures...

Cohen Ice Skating & Kyah...Being Weird

6 Weeks ago Cohen could not even stand up on his skates so I think he has progressed well. Here is an unedited clip of Cohen skating and Kyah goofing around. As always the best quality is through the direct Youtube Link.

Something Funny for Your Monday

Something funny to watch while I upload a video of Cohen ice skating; should be done tonight. Hopefully you don't have to be a mountain biker to find this funny. It makes me think if the "Al Qaeda Drifter," I will see if I can find that and post it too...Edit - Found the Arab Drifter; it is the second video

Geocaching: Mt Thom

I took Cohen & Kyah Geocaching up Mt. Thom yesterday. The cache was up the top of the hill so it was a tough slog for the Twins in the snow. In hindsight it probably wasnt my best idea this week as Kyah was very whiny on the walk. I thought she was being her usual self but it turns out she was actually very tired. She fell asleep on the drive home and then asked to have a nap in her bed, which never happens. Enjoy the pictures...

Geocaching at Cultus

I had an optional day of work today as the stock markets were closed due to Family Day back east and Presidents Day is the US; I took the option not to work. In the spirit of Family Day I took Cohen and Kyah to Cultus Lake Provincial Park for some treasure hunting (i.e. Geocaching). It was a little chilly and snowed off and on but we managed to find two caches! Here are a few pictures of the happy hunters...

Winter Campfire

Yesterday Chelsey asked me what I wanted to do. I said "lets have a campfire and make hot dogs." So after Cohen's skating lesson we booted up to Jones Lake for a campfire and boy was the scenery nice. The lake was frozen over with at least a foot of ice and there was a bit of snow around but really it was all good. The kids were great except for a short period of whining about being cold, we didn't bring snow suits. Chelsey made the kids a snow slide while I built the fire and the kids said they had fun. Enjoy the pictures...
